Part 4: High CBD Cannabis Pro - Treating Anxiety
This is one area in which I have a lot of personal experience. I know a good panic attack like I know the back of my hand. For the longest time I thought I was just crazy. But I recently had some medical tests conducted that revealed that my body produces off the charts levels of adrenaline due to some sort of delightful genetic easter-egg. I like to think of it as my own personal meth lab inside my belly. But instead of being run with the precision of a biohazard-suited Walter White, its been taken over by little yellow minions run amok; knocking beakers over and squirting each other in the eyes with hydrochloric acid.
While cannabis has helped many of my health issues tremendously, it also has the tendency to overstimulate me at times. It can, and has, caused major panic attacks and four-alarm freakouts. Thankfully, this doesn’t happen much anymore due to many years of trial and error in finding the types of strains that are best suited to my personal biochemical makeup. But when testing out a new strain I haven’t used before, or smoking too much of a strong sativa, those little meth-minions can fuck up my evening real quick. But never with high CBD cannabis.
I’ll be the first to admit, I enjoy a nice long smoke. I’m not saying it’s the healthiest choice, but I love to puff on a nice sticky joint and really savour it. But I just can’t do that with super-potent strains or sativas, and that disappoints me. But with high CBD weed, I’m able to smoke to my hearts content with zero anxiety. I actually find it really calms me down. I have confirmed this with other patients who suffer from similarly intense anxiety disorders. They report the high CBD strains to be very calming and relaxing with only positive effects on their mental state. And they don’t have to worry about accidentally smoking too much.
Tip: If you are prone to cannabis induced anxiety but still love a super potent strain like Lucky OG (pictured), blend it with a very high CBD strain at a 1:3 or 1:5 ratio for a much more relaxing experience.
